With contributions by Lenka Clayton and Jon Rubin; Elizabeth Grady; Anna Harsanyi, Nat Trotman, and Christina Yang; Marc Bamuthi Joseph; Kim Kanatani; Mary Ellen Munley; and Sharon Vatsky and Joan Young.

Guggenheim Social Practice celebrates the two inaugural projects organized through this new initiative, which is committed to exploring how museums and artists can work together to foster new forms of public engagement that advance important social values: moving and passing (begun 2016; ongoing), by Marc Bamuthi Joseph, and A talking parrot, a high school drama class, a Punjabi TV show, the oldest song in the world, a museum artwork, and a congregation’s call to action circle through New York (2017), by Lenka Clayton and Jon Rubin. The publication features curatorial essays alongside textual and visual documentation focusing on each of the projects, and includes the artists’ perspectives, the collaborators’ voices, and reflections on the Guggenheim’s own institutional learnings.
