Details

The Reunion Chair seems equally suited as a desk chair and aesthetic partner to the Astral Desk. It was inspired by the proportion and overall forms of some early-American side chairs, but simplified and left devoid of any exaggerated scrolls or ornamentation. Some experimentation was done to create a tapered back that is minimal, stark, and uniquely modern. The design places an emphasis on negative space. Shown in oxidized oak, the Reunion Chair presents itself as a shadow or silhouette of some of its more lavish antecedents.

Built to order.  Allow 6-8 weeks lead time.  Shipping is not charged until after construction.

Artist

Cedric Martin comes from a Mennonite background. He was born and raised in Lancaster County, PA and that is where he first learned fine woodworking. Cedric built his first pieces of furniture while still in high school and then returned to woodworking in his mid-twenties, studying at the Center for Furniture Craftsmanship in Maine and the North Bennett Street School in Boston.

In 2013, Cedric founded Pacama Handmade, a design studio and retail space in Woodstock, New York an area rich with history of designers, artists and craftspeople. It was an ideal location for a contemporary furniture maker looking to use the American history of this craft to create new pieces for the 21st century.
