These Malevich teapot and cups are reproduced from the artist’s original models at the Lomonosov Porcelain Factory in St. Petersburg, Russia. Kazimir Malevich (1878–1935), one of the pioneers and founders of modern art, had such difficulty casting these teapots that fewer than six were produced. The originals became icons of the Russian avant-garde and rank among the most important pieces of functional modern sculpture of the twentieth century.
